About the NGO

Founded in 1994, SIVA Trust aims to empower and create inclusive rural communities in Tamil Nadu, focusing on women' s empowerment, children's protection and growth, forest land rights for hill tribal communities, and livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities. Upholding values of integrity, passion, empathy, transparency, respect, and accountability, the Trust has achieved significant milestones. It completed an organizational change management program with Dhwani Foundation, scoring 98.76 , and received the NGO of the Year - Empowering Specially Abled/Old Age award in 2022. The Trust manages 130 women's SHG groups, operates a savings and credit Revolving Fund, runs evening tuition centers for 350 students, and provides health guidance to mothers and adolescent girls. It has assisted around 200 persons with disabilities with devices, ID cards, travel passes, pensions, and livelihood support, and helped 10,000 hill tribal families obtain forest land titles and social security benefits. Additionally, the Trust ensures safe working conditions for women in the textile industry, implements the POSH Act in rural areas, and promotes environmental sustainability through tree plantation and alternate energy awareness. Collaborating with SORIGIN, it undertook socio-economic development in six villages near solar power plants. Approaching its 30th anniversary in April 2024, SIVA Trust is governed by a board of five trustees, holding quarterly meetings to review and plan activities, and maintains policy documents, a website, and social media presence.
